Velaris Therapeutics is advancing ActRII-Fc ligand traps and complementary biologics for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (PH) and other cardiopulmonary diseases.

PH is a spectrum of serious and life-threatening diseases: pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, Group 1), initiating in the pulmonary vasculature, and secondary PH, resulting from heart (Group 2) or lung disease (Group 3). All share an imbalance in growth signaling that narrows and stiffens the pulmonary arteries, making the heart work harder to pump blood into the lungs and causing breathlessness, fatigue, edema, and ultimately heart failure.
